...but then I went to Pathways. They taught me to love myself and that I was worth saving. The counselors really cared about me and didn't judge me. They saved my life and showed me life can be a happy place and that I deserve to be happy...

Adolescent and Adult Residential Treatment

Providing hope and individualized care

Pathways To A Better Life, LLC provides a total of 28 residential treatment beds across two campuses in eastern Wisconsin. We currently serve adults and are expanding to also serve adolescents, allowing us to meet the needs of two distinct populations while maintaining the compassion, structure, and quality Pathways is known for.

Many of our adult clients began their drinking and substance use during their teenage years. The need for adolescent services in Wisconsin is clear from the number of families reaching out for help. Pathways is responding to this unmet need by dedicating our Waldo Campus to adolescent treatment and expanding our family-centered, trauma-informed services to younger individuals.

ADOLESCENT RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT – WALDO CAMPUS (AGES 14–17)

Our Waldo Campus is dedicated to adolescents ages 14–17 and provides 12 residential beds in a safe, supportive, and structured environment. This program is designed specifically for youth and focuses on emotional regulation, coping skills, trauma-informed care, education, and family involvement. Adolescents receive dual diagnosis treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns in a setting appropriate for their developmental needs.

Families play a key role in adolescent recovery. In addition to the weekly Saturday family groups offered to all Pathways residents, adolescents and their families are offered an extra family group and visitation opportunity every Wednesday. Families may attend group, stay for dinner, and visit with their loved one. This added support strengthens connection and helps families learn, grow, and heal together.

ADULT RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT – KIEL CAMPUS (CO-ED ADULTS)

Our Kiel Campus provides residential treatment for co-ed adults and includes two eight-bed homes, for a total of 16 beds. Located on 38 private wooded acres in rural Kiel, Wisconsin, this peaceful, family-like environment allows residents to focus on healing while surrounded by nature.

Kiel is a dual diagnosis program that provides support for detox needs and continuing treatment. Residents work with our clinical team to stabilize, rebuild, and gain the tools needed for long-term recovery. Many of our adult residents struggled with drinking and substance use beginning in adolescence, which makes Pathways’ expanded focus on early intervention especially meaningful.

TRAUMA-INFORMED, HOLISTIC, FAMILY-ORIENTED CARE

Pathways’ programs are grounded in trauma-informed and holistic care. We treat the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of each person and create individualized treatment plans reviewed weekly by our clinical team. Residents receive evidence-based therapies, mental health support, relapse prevention training, life skills development, and opportunities for personal growth in a judgment-free environment.

HIGH AND LOW INTENSITY RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT

Pathways is licensed for both high-intensity and low-intensity residential treatment. Although high-intensity treatment is traditionally referred to as a 28-day program, our counselors assess each individual’s progress and request additional time beyond 28 days on a case-by-case basis. The average stay at Pathways is approximately 45 days, but some individuals remain for 60 or 90 days depending on their clinical needs. Length of stay is tailored to the person, not the calendar.

FAMILY INVOLVEMENT

Families are essential to the recovery process. Pathways offers weekly Saturday family groups for adults and adolescents and runs a Family Alumni Group on the third Saturday of each month. For adolescents, additional family programming is offered every Wednesday with group, dinner, and visitation. These opportunities help families build communication skills, learn about addiction and mental health, and stay connected throughout the treatment process. All families are treated with dignity, respect, and privacy.
